12 Days of Prawning
Pro Marine's Drill Powered Line Hauler (Pot Puller)
Hi James.
The prawning was great all summer and good almost all the way to Glacier Bay. Indeed, in some out-of-the-way places the prawning was spectacular with some very large specimens from some very cold water. I probably hauled in a couple of thousand over my seven weeks.
The equipment worked beautifully. I hauled traps up both from my main boat and from my dinghy. Works best from the dinghy when there is a current because it will float with the trap and reduce the stress (as opposed to the big boat which just stays in place and really hauls on the trap when it is caught in the current). The thin line is nice and strong and I no longer feel any nervousness about really hauling on it when necessary.
The video shows my solution to spooling the line on evenly (a piece of pipe that I use to move the line back and forth across the spool) – crude but modestly effective. I’ll be very interested to see your solution.
Looking forward to it,
Jamie

PRODUCTS FOR THE PRAWN AND CRAB WEEKEND WARRIORS
"Hi from the Broughtons James. Here are some pictures that you are welcome to use along with any endorsement from me. As you can see, the prawns are abundant and the Thin Line Hauler system works beautifully. I won’t go back to thick leaded line."
